Eshidiya mines, which covers an area of approximately 258 square km, is located in the south of Jordan, approximately 125 km north-east of the port at Aqaba. JPMC employs approximately 1250 people at Eshidiya.
Phosphate bearing deposits were discovered in the Eshidiya region in 1975 and, following Government exploration and feasibility studies, JPMC took over implementation of the mining project in 1987. Phosphate rock production commenced at Eshidiya in 1988.
